پایگاه‌های اطلاعاتی تخصصی مجموعه‌ای از نمایه‌های حاوی اطلاعات فنی و علمی، برای آرشیو یک نشریه علمی معتبر و ترویج انتشار در سطح بین‌المللی است. بنابراین، کاربران به منظور یافتن و بازیابی اطلاعات یا داده های علمی از این پایگاه ها استفاده می کنند. پایگاه‌های اطلاعاتی تخصصی به‌عنوان ابزار علمی کمکی برای اعتبارسنجی نشریات، در کنار پایگاه‌های استنادی قرار می‌گیرند تا اعتبار بین‌المللی نشریات برای ارائه دانش تخصصی‌تر. بنابراین نشریاتی که همزمان در نمایه های تخصصی دارای اعتبار بین المللی می باشند، تحت پوشش امتیاز بالاتری در ارزیابی کیفی و کمی در ابعاد ملی، منطقه ای و بین المللی پروفایل تخصصی قرار می گیرند. یک پایگاه داده تخصصی امکان جستجوی هدفمند در یک یا چند حوزه موضوعی خاص مانند (مانند علوم، مهندسی، پزشکی، و غیره) را برای یک قالب خاص یا برای یک محدوده تاریخی خاص که در طی آن اطلاعات برای مقالات، کتاب ها و مجموعه های منتشر شده است. کنفرانس مقالات ارائه می کند. از آنجایی که پایگاه های تخصصی متعددی وجود دارد، اما در زیر مهمترین پایگاه های تخصصی ارائه شده در رشته های مختلف دانشگاهی آورده شده است. مجموعه ارائه شده برای مجلات علمی ارائه شده است تا از کیفیت علمی خود بهره مند شوند. مهمترین پایگاه های تخصصی به شرح زیر می باشد:
